Automated social media accounts, on the accounts you actually own.
An automated social media account is an account you own where software does the recurring work: researching topics, drafting the posts, making the images, scheduling them and reporting what happened. GrowSocialelion automates that whole loop. It writes each post native to the network it is going to and keeps the send button yours.
Automation is not botting.
Networks do not ban you for scheduling. They ban fake identities, bought engagement and tools that drive their website from a script. Those are separate things that got filed under one word, and the difference decides whether an automated account is an asset or a liability.
The account is yours
One person, one identity, posting under their own name. Automation changes who does the typing, not who the account belongs to.
Official APIs only
Every publish goes through the network's own API with credentials you granted. Nothing scripts a website that offers an API, because the networks that offer one forbid that specifically.
No manufactured engagement
No bought followers, no reciprocal follow rings, no reply spam. Searches for follower-buying tools fell 90% year over year in our own keyword pass, which tracks the enforcement wave that preceded it.
A record you can read
Code logs each action as it happens, separately from the agent that requested it. When the reports say a post did well, you can go and check.
What gets automated, step by step.
Most tools take one slice of this. A scheduler wants copy you already wrote. A writer hands you text and stops. Here it is one loop, and the output of each step is the input to the next.
It reads your niche
Standing searches watch the accounts and topics you nominate. What they find is what the next drafts are built on, so the writing starts from this week rather than from a blank box.
It writes the post
One idea becomes a version per network, written to that network's length, tone and link behaviour instead of copy-pasted across all of them. It learns your voice from posts you already published.
It makes the picture
The image or the video is generated from the draft itself, in the composer, before you approve anything. No second tool, no round trip.
It fills the calendar
Approved work lands on one calendar covering every connected account, down to an hour-by-hour day view. Empty slots are compose targets. Anything scheduled can be pulled back.
It reports what landed
Live platform metrics join a log that code writes at the moment each action happens. The agent reads those numbers; it does not author them, and it says so when a sample is too small to mean anything.
You keep the switch
Autonomy is set per action. Engagement and profile updates can already run on their own. Publishing waits for your tap today, and unattended publishing will be a setting you turn on, per network.
How much of it runs without you.
Today the agent researches, drafts, generates the media and schedules on its own. Engagement and profile updates have their own autonomy settings, from full review to running unattended. Publishing is the one action still gated on your approval, and the gate lives in the runtime rather than in a prompt, so the model cannot talk its way past it.
That gate is where this is going next. The intent is that you choose, per network and per content type, whether to keep approving or hand the agent the send. It will be a switch you turn on. Anything that tells you the product publishes unattended today is describing a version that has not shipped.
Approving is one tap and the queue is one screen for every connected account, so a week clears in a sitting. Approved once means sent later, at the time the calendar says.
Four questions for any social media automation tool.
Worth asking of us as much as of anyone else. The answers are in the source either way.
Does it write, or only schedule?
A scheduler expects finished copy. If you are still writing every post yourself, the software removed the smallest part of the job.
Is the media in the same place?
Drafting somewhere, generating an image somewhere else, then uploading it by hand is three tools pretending to be one workflow.
Can you see what it did?
Ask where the audit log lives and who writes it. Software that reports on its own behaviour with no independent record is asking for trust it has not earned.
Can you leave?
Open source under the AGPL-3.0 means the running product is yours to host. There is no version of this you can be locked out of.
The catalog covers 49 networks with a published status on each, and 31 of them are live to connect, draft, schedule and publish today. Nothing is marked live before its adapter ships. See the table.
Automating an account, answered.
What is an automated social media account?
An automated social media account is an account you own where software does the recurring work: researching topics, drafting posts, scheduling them, publishing at set times and reporting the results. The account, the audience and the voice stay yours. Only the labour moves.
Is automating a social media account against the rules?
Automating an account you own is allowed on every major network, through their official APIs. What the rules forbid is inauthenticity: fake accounts, bought followers, coordinated posting from accounts pretending to be separate people, and scripting a website that offers an API instead. GrowSocialelion publishes through official APIs only.
Will an automated account get me banned?
Not for scheduling or for AI-assisted writing on an account that is genuinely yours. Enforcement targets fake identities and bulk inauthentic behaviour. The risk comes from tools that script the website, run accounts you do not own, or manufacture engagement. GrowSocialelion does none of those, and every action it takes is written to an audit log you can read.
Does it post without me?
Not today. Publishing is gated on your approval in the runtime, not by instructions to the model, so the agent cannot send a post without your tap. Engagement and profile updates already have autonomy settings you control. Unattended publishing is the stated direction and it will be opt-in per network, never the default.
How much does social media automation software cost?
GrowSocialelion is open source under the AGPL-3.0 and free to self-host forever, with no feature held back. The managed service has a free tier for one network, then $19/month and $49/month for more networks and a faster research cadence. Self-hosting has no account cap.
Which networks can it automate?
The catalog holds 38 networks, each with a published status, and the ones marked live can be connected, drafted for, scheduled and published to today. The Platforms table on the homepage shows the real state of every one, and no network is marked live before its adapter ships.
Put the account on rails, keep your name on it.
Free to self-host under the AGPL-3.0, with nothing held back for the paid tiers. Hosted plans start free for one network.
