Fair credit

Both sides of the ledger

What CoSchedule does well

Eleven networks including Mastodon and Bluesky, which almost no incumbent scheduler touches, alongside Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads and Google My Business. (source, 2026-08-27)

The free plan is permanent, not a trial: one profile, up to 15 scheduled messages, with the drag-and-drop calendar, best-time publishing and the AI assistant included. (source, 2026-08-27)

ReQueue automatically re-publishes your best content and recurring promotions, and best-time scheduling picks posting windows per network. (source, 2026-08-27)

Social Calendar ships with 1,600+ AI project templates, bulk scheduling, and social analytics and reports. (source, 2026-08-27)

Where CoSchedule stops

Two meters run at once: per-user pricing plus $5 a month for every profile beyond the 3 included on Social Calendar or 5 on Agency Calendar. (source, 2026-08-27)

Social approvals are an Agency Calendar feature, $59 per user per month billed annually, not part of the $19 Social Calendar plan. (source, 2026-08-27)

On Social Calendar the Social Inbox covers Facebook and Instagram only; all-network inbox requires Agency Calendar. (source, 2026-08-27)

Self-serve plans stop at 3 user seats; a fourth teammate means the custom-priced Content Calendar or Marketing Suite tiers. Closed source, with no self-host option. (source, 2026-08-27)

Honesty

Who should stay with CoSchedule

If you run a full marketing calendar spanning blog posts, email and projects, stay. That suite is CoSchedule's actual product, and GrowSocialelion manages social networks, not editorial calendars.

If clients review your work, CoSchedule's Agency Calendar was built for that: white label, client calendars and social approvals for human reviewers. Our approval gate supervises the AI agent's own actions; it is not a client sign-off portal.

If Instagram, Facebook, TikTok or YouTube carry your growth, they publish in CoSchedule today and remain planned in our catalog, and its free plan covers a single-profile setup at no cost.

CoSchedule stands out in this cluster for one surprising reason: it publishes to Mastodon and Bluesky, networks the incumbents mostly ignore, next to the usual Facebook, Instagram and TikTok list. Its free-forever plan is real, ReQueue keeps evergreen content circulating, and the AI template library is enormous. What sends people looking elsewhere is arithmetic. Per-user pricing, $5 a month for each profile past the included handful, a 3-seat ceiling on self-serve plans, and approvals reserved for the $59 Agency tier add up fast for a small team with many accounts.

GrowSocialelion charges for none of those axes. The AGPL app is free to run; users, profiles and posts are not billing units. Approval is not a plan feature but the operating model: an AI agent researches, drafts, schedules and engages, and every action type passes a gate you set to human approval, semi-auto or autopilot. Where CoSchedule and we overlap most is the fediverse: both publish to Mastodon and Bluesky, and we add Nostr, Lemmy and Telegram.

As of 2026-08-27, CoSchedule's Social Calendar is $19 per user per month billed annually ($29 monthly) with 3 profiles included, and Agency Calendar is $59 per user annually ($69 monthly) with 5. Every extra profile is $5 a month. GrowSocialelion is free to self-host under the AGPL with no user or profile billing; its hosted version is pre-launch.

No. CoSchedule is closed-source SaaS with no self-hosting option. GrowSocialelion's entire app is AGPL-3.0 on GitHub.

Yes, both are among its 11 supported networks, which is unusual for an established scheduler. GrowSocialelion also publishes to Mastodon and Bluesky today, plus Nostr, Lemmy, Telegram, Tumblr, DEV and X.

Does CoSchedule have approval workflows?

Social Approvals are part of the Agency Calendar plan at $59 per user per month billed annually; the $19 Social Calendar plan does not list them.
