The open-source Pallyy alternative
GrowSocialelion is an open-source alternative to Pallyy: the whole app is AGPL-3.0 and free to self-host, with an AI agent that drafts, schedules and engages behind an approval gate you set per action. Pallyy is closed SaaS, cheap and well made, with a permanent free plan; its inbox, approvals and AI captions start on the $25 Pro plan.

Both sides of the ledger
What Pallyy does well
Billing counts brands, not channels: a social set is one account per platform for a single brand or client, so a client on seven networks is one line on the bill, not seven. (source, 2026-08-27)
The free plan is permanent (one social set, 15 posts a month), and Pro is $25 a month with unlimited posts plus $10 for each extra social set. (source, 2026-08-27)
Pro carries the full toolkit at its price point: unified inbox for comments, messages and reviews, approval workflows, AI captions, link-in-bio pages and an API. (source, 2026-08-27)
Where Pallyy stops
Posting is capped below Pro: the free plan schedules 15 posts a month and Starter 20, so any steady cadence pushes you to $25. (source, 2026-08-27)
A social set holds one account per platform (LinkedIn excepted), so a second Instagram account for the same brand means a second set at $10 a month. (source, 2026-08-27)
The network list is the mainstream ten. There is no Mastodon, Telegram, Nostr, Lemmy, Reddit or Snapchat on it. (source, 2026-08-27)
Closed source and SaaS only. There is an API, but no self-host option and no code to inspect. (source, 2026-08-27)
Who should stay with Pallyy
If your clients live on Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest or YouTube, stay. Pallyy publishes to all four today; in our catalog they are planned, not live.
If $25 a month all-in is your ceiling and you do not want to run a server, Pallyy is one of the cheapest hosted tools with a full feature set, and our hosted version has not launched.
If you schedule a handful of posts a month for one brand, Pallyy's free plan covers 15 of them for nothing, indefinitely.
Pallyy is what the budget end of this category looks like when it is done with care. The social-set model bills a brand once no matter how many networks it posts to, the free plan does not expire, and $25 buys unlimited posts, the inbox, approvals and AI captions in one plan instead of three upsells. For an agency running mainstream client accounts on a tight margin, the arithmetic is hard to argue with.
The walls are structural, the same ones as the rest of the closed tools. Post caps below Pro decide when you start paying, each extra brand is a $10 meter tick, the ten supported networks stop at the mainstream set, and there is no version of Pallyy you can run yourself. GrowSocialelion removes the meters instead of lowering them: the AGPL app is free to self-host, brands and posts are not billing units, and the approval-gated AI agent ships in the free app rather than a paid tier.
Asked before switching
How much does Pallyy cost compared to GrowSocialelion?
As of 2026-08-27, Pallyy is free for one social set and 15 posts a month, $15 a month for Starter (20 posts), and $25 for Pro with unlimited posts, plus $10 per extra social set; annual billing saves up to 25%. GrowSocialelion is free to self-host under the AGPL with no set or post billing; its hosted version is pre-launch.
Is Pallyy open source?
No. Pallyy is closed-source SaaS. It offers an API, but there is no self-host option and no public code. GrowSocialelion's entire app is AGPL-3.0 on GitHub.
What is a Pallyy social set and how does the billing compare?
A social set is one brand's accounts, one per platform (LinkedIn allows a profile plus a company page). Paid plans include one set and charge $10 a month for each additional one. GrowSocialelion has no equivalent meter: the self-hosted app connects as many brands and accounts as its adapters support, at no charge.
Which networks does each support?
Pallyy publishes to 10 networks: Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Google My Business, Pinterest, TikTok, YouTube, Threads and Bluesky. GrowSocialelion publishes to 8 today (X, Bluesky, Mastodon, Telegram, Tumblr, Nostr, Lemmy, DEV) with 30 more researched in the catalog. Instagram-first workloads favor Pallyy now; open networks favor us.
