SocialBee vs GrowSocialelion, on the record
| SocialBee | GrowSocialelion | |
|---|---|---|
| Content model | Categories that requeue and re-share evergreen posts | Not built; our agent drafts new posts instead of recycling old ones |
| AI content | Copilot builds a strategy, schedule and editable posts | The agent drafts per network, in your voice, from live research |
| Approvals | From the Accelerate plan, $49 a month | Every agent action is approval-gated: human, semi-auto or autopilot, per action type, in the free app |
| Agent access | No public API; Zapier and Make only, per their help center | MCP from day 0; the same publish tool the UI uses |
| Open source | No, and no self-hosting | AGPL-3.0, self-host the whole app free |

Both sides of the ledger
What SocialBee does well
The category engine is mature: group posts by category, bulk-schedule weeks in one sitting, re-share evergreen posts automatically and set expiry dates on time-sensitive ones. (source, 2026-08-27)
Copilot, their AI assistant, builds a strategy end to end: platform picks, content categories, a posting schedule and ready-to-edit posts. (source, 2026-08-27)
Ten networks including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Google Business Profile, plus an engagement inbox for comments, mentions and DMs. (source, 2026-08-27)
Where SocialBee stops
No public API. Their help center says one is not available yet and sits on the long-term roadmap with no timeline; custom connections run through Zapier or Make instead. (source, 2026-08-27)
No free plan, only a 14-day trial. Entry is $29 a month for 5 profiles and a single user. (source, 2026-08-27)
Post approval is absent from the Bootstrap plan; it arrives on Accelerate at $49 a month. (source, 2026-08-27)
Closed source and SaaS only. There is no self-host option, and analytics history on the entry plan reaches back three months. (source, 2026-08-27)
Who should stay with SocialBee
If category-based evergreen recycling is your strategy, stay. Requeuing sorted content is SocialBee's core competence, and GrowSocialelion deliberately does not recycle; the agent drafts new posts instead.
If your audience lives on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn or Google Business Profile, SocialBee publishes to all of them today. Of their ten networks we share only X and Bluesky so far; the rest sit in our researched catalog.
If you want a managed product with a 14-day trial, concierge onboarding and no server to run, that is what their plans sell, and our hosted version has not launched.
SocialBee's bet is that your old posts are an asset to be requeued. You sort content into categories, the calendar cycles through them, and evergreen items go back into rotation until they expire. For a solo founder feeding ten profiles, that machine saves real hours, and their Copilot assistant will even lay out the strategy and the schedule for you. The catches are structural: entry costs $29 a month with no free tier, approval workflow starts one plan up, and their own help center confirms there is no public API, so nothing outside Zapier or Make can drive it.
GrowSocialelion starts from the opposite bet: an audience notices reruns, so the agent researches and writes new posts, and every one of them passes an approval gate you configure per action type. The app is AGPL-3.0 and free to self-host, which removes the plan ladder entirely, and MCP is built in from day 0, so your own agents can call the same publish tools the UI uses. What we do not offer is the recycling machine itself: no categories, no requeue.
Asked before switching
How much does SocialBee cost compared to GrowSocialelion?
As of 2026-08-27, SocialBee runs $29 a month (Bootstrap, 5 profiles), $49 (Accelerate, 10 profiles) or $99 (Pro, 25 profiles) billed monthly, with roughly two months off on annual billing and a 14-day trial instead of a free plan. GrowSocialelion is free to self-host under the AGPL; its hosted version is pre-launch.
Does SocialBee have a public API?
No. Their help center states a public API is not available yet and is on the long-term roadmap without a timeline; integrations go through Zapier, Make or Boost.space. GrowSocialelion ships MCP from day 0, and its agent tools are the same ones the UI calls.
Is SocialBee open source?
No. SocialBee is closed-source SaaS with no self-hosting option. GrowSocialelion's entire app is AGPL-3.0 on GitHub.
What does GrowSocialelion not do that SocialBee does?
Category-based evergreen recycling: sorting posts into categories, cycling them on a recurring calendar and re-sharing them until expiry. That is SocialBee's specialty. Our agent writes new content from live research instead, and every action is approval-gated.

The hosted app is still pre-launch, so we will not pretend there is a signup. What runs today: the open-source app on your own server, and 500+ free tools that need no account, including character counters whose every limit carries a source, something SocialBee's tools do not offer.
